WATCH: Cairo Santos bangs home a massive 58-yard kick in preseason

Cairo Santos became kind of like a guy who has a hole-in-one on a par-3 course on Saturday afternoon, when the Chiefs kicker nailed a 58-yard field goal during apreseason game.

With the Chiefs leading the Seahawks 13-6 in the third quarter, Andy Reid sent Santos out a long way from home and let his kicker try a massive kick. Santos didn’t flinch, hammering it through the uprights.

He won’t be able to brag about nailing a 58-yard field goal, because it didn’t technically happen in “real life.” I mean, everyone saw it and it happened, but a preseason field goal doesn’t count for his actual career statistics.

So, like that golfer who once found the cup in a single stroke, Santos can talk about hitting a 58-yard field goal but no one’s going to give him non-asterisked credit.

However, it probably gives Reid a nice boost of optimism that he can send his kicker out into the range of 60 yards and he’ll go full ice veins when it counts.
