New York Giants: Former Punter Steve Weatherford Calls Out Colin Kaepernick

After San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand up during the national anthem, former New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford decided to tell him how he really feels.

Things always get interesting when you mesh football and politics.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to sit during the national anthem prior to the team’s preseason game on Friday.

Why? Here’s why, according to Steve Wyche of NFL.com:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game.

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Unfortunately, this is also the same country giving Kaepernick the opportunity – he probably doesn’t deserve – to make $114 million over the course of his contract.

But that’s another story and I’m no storyteller.

Former Giants punter Steve Weatherford vented his frustration with the Kaepernick situation by voicing himself on Facebook.

As he called Kaepernick a “prick” among other things.

There is no right or wrong in this situation because it’s about as grey an area as there could be.

It’s as simple as that.
